I am seeing improvement in homework being completed on time after regularly putting stars or sad faces in the student's workbooks.  They definitely do not like the sad faces.  I even see them working on the homework before they go home so they don't have to take the workbook home.  I have one student who has worked ahead several pages.  Out of 7 students, there were only 2 that had their homework completed. This week, I had 4 that had all their work completed.  One of them only missed a small part.  So, I am seeing more motivation and more responsibility.
