Since I have a small beginning ESL class, I am using a more basic approach to getting the students to do their homework.  First, many do not have internet at home, so even drop boxing an assignment is not an option.  Giving those students time to do that in class takes away from learning time.  So, my plan is to put either a star or happy face on their homework assignment before we go over it in class, which I have already started.  After discussion today, I plan to put in points for the number of stars that each student has accumulated during the week.  Then, they will be able to see how their homework assignments affect their grades.
